Who We Are
Vale Construction is a design-build home remodeling company based right here in Alexandria. We've been doing this work since 2002, and the shape of it hasn't changed much: homeowners come to us when they want to change how their house works, and we plan it, build it, and see it through.
On most jobs we run the whole project — one contract, one schedule, one team that answers for the whole thing. That means the design decisions, the permits and inspections, the trades on site, and the finish work at the end all sit with us. You're not the one chasing a plumber on Tuesday and an electrician on Friday. We handle the sequence.
Alfredo Esquivel still runs it hands-on. He's at the first walkthrough, in the design reviews, and on the active job site — not a name on a proposal. He talks directly with homeowners and with the trades, so when you have a question, you get a straight answer from someone who actually knows what's happening on your project.
What We Build
We take on residential work that moves the needle — renovations, additions, remodels, and larger construction improvements. We don't do small handyman calls or odd-job maintenance; that's just not what we're built for.
- Whole-Home Renovations — multiple rooms or systems planned as one coordinated project, so layout, mechanicals and finishes line up instead of fighting each other.
- Kitchen Remodeling — layout changes, better storage, new lighting and appliances, designed around the way you actually cook.
- Bathroom Remodeling — tile, fixtures and smarter layouts, often with plumbing relocation and ventilation work, from demo to the last fixture.
- Basement Finishing — framing, insulation, egress, waterproofing, and the electrical and plumbing runs for a bathroom or wet bar, finished to match the rest of the house.
- Home Additions — rear additions, second-story additions, bump-outs and in-law suites, planned around structure, roof tie-in and foundation before anything gets ordered.
- Sunroom Additions — handled from permitting through framing and finish, including footings, the roof tie-in, and cutting new openings into the existing exterior.
How We Work
We built our process around three phases — Plan, Design, Build — in that order. Most renovation headaches start the same way: fuzzy scope and decisions made in a hurry. So we work through the hard choices early, while they're still cheap to change. By the time demo starts, the plan is real. That's what makes a schedule something you can count on.
Our Commitment to Alexandria
A lot of our work is in older homes — 1960s splits, 1980s colonials, houses that have been added onto and re-wired by three different owners before us. Undersized joists. Wiring that doesn't meet today's code. Framing someone got creative with. None of that surprises us. We've worked with the local building departments long enough to know what they'll expect, and we bring in a structural engineer when a job calls for one.
We work throughout Northern Virginia, and we know these neighborhoods — Old Town, Del Ray, Rosemont, Seminary Hill, North Ridge, Potomac Yard. The bones of these houses are often good. The surfaces and systems are what need the work.
